ABOUT US

Northern Regional Electricity Board (NREB) was constituted in pursuance of Govt. of India, Ministry of Power (erstwhile Ministry of Irrigation and Power) resolution No. EL. II-35 (3)/63, dated 13-02-64, and amended from time to time. As per the Ministry of Power resolution no.6/4/82-Trans., dated 17-06-82 and its amendment No. 6/2/97-Trans., dated 04.08.97, 20.06.2000, 13.12.2000, 15.01.01, 18.01.01, 4.6.01, 13.07.01 & 26.07.01 NREB have been reconstituted as follows:

1. The Principal Secretary (Power), Power Development Department, Government of Jammu & Kashmir.

2. The Chairman, Punjab State Electricity Board.

3. The CMD, Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Ltd.

4. The CMD, Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd.

5. The CMD, Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam.

6. The Chairman, Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board.

7. The Chairman, Bhakra Beas Management Board.

8. The Chairman, Delhi Vidyut Board now CMD, Delhi Transco Ltd.

9. The CMD, Uttaranchal Power Corporation Ltd.

10. The Chief Engineer and Incharge of Electricity Works, UT Administration of Chandigarh.

11. The Director (Operation), PowerGrid or Executive Director (NR), PowerGrid (alternate nominee).

12. The Director (Operation), National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd. or Executive Director (NCR), NTPC (alternate nominee).

13. The Director (Technical), National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited.

14. The Director (Economic & Commercial), NPCIL, DAE or Chief Superintendent, Rajasthan Atomic Power Station (alternate Nominee).

15. The Director (Technical), Power Trading Corporation .

16. The Member (Grid Operation & Distribution), Central Electricity Authority.

17. The Member Secretary, Northern Regional Electricity Board.

The Members from [1] to [9] above shall be the Chairman of the Northern Regional Electricity Board for a period of one year each by rotation.

NREB has Secretariat of its own, headed by Member Secretary. Member Secretary is the administrative and technical head of NREB Secretariat with powers of Head of Department.
